She Thought She Was Never Coming Home

#28daysoflovepoems by Kiara

A little girl

Lost and forlorn

Caught up in the midst

Of a toxic man and

His toxic shit

A revenge tour of sorts

All done in secret, no remorse

And she is his greatest hit

Pirated, of course

Rights to brag and a closeted punching bag

Shh don’t tell nobody

She can’t keep up

Shh don’t tell nobody

Say the people around him who don’t really give a fuck

The irony of the tyranny of a damaged man from a broken home

Love is something he’ll never ever know

But thank God the little girl already knows

Home

She already knows that love is her home

And her momma told her so

The days felt endless when he kept her from home

How violent of a tyrant

To use and abuse his fake ass throne

But alas, when she broke free of the grasp

The little girl hugged her momma so tight and said “I thought I was never coming back”

Home

Prettier than the sunrise and

Warmer than the sunshine

They can never take and break her beautiful soul

Tricky people are empty people but

All the sunshine in the world would never be enough

To feed one soulless soul

But thank God the little girl already knows

This is a love letter for all the little girls

From 1 to 101 years old

Whoever the tricky people are in your life

They can never, ever take your home

Squatters will try and scammers will wonder why

They can never gain full control of your humble abode

My little girl

The days felt endless when he kept you away but God brought you back

Because there’s no room for the devil where you and I stay

Everyday in February 2026, The House of Psalm will post an original poem about love — self-love, romantic love, parental love and so much more. #28daysoflovepoems | IG @thehouseofpsalm @kiaraleewrites
