Shortchange Brings Longer Waits

Titus 1:16: They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works.

What an easy life

When we lie or

When we cheat or

When we steal or

When we are lazy

Then, we look at the righteous like they are the ones who are crazy when they take the long way

After we shortchanged our way through life

We forget we still have to pay the price

A longer wait

We forget that fate has a funny way of catching up

We forget how God gets weary when He’s had enough

A longer wait

We complain about dreams deferred and

We complain about being unheard

But we’re too good to put in the work

That’s too bad

What are we waiting for?

We’ve wasted precious time

Avoiding the long way

Being slick and sly, cutting the lines

Just putting our lives further and

Further and

Further behind

God wants the best

But we think we can do better

What a grave mistake

What a slap in the face

What a long, long, long wait

So if we keep skipping the lines and

Living the lies and

If we keep on not putting in the time

We’ll never ever live how God intended

Putting all bets on corrupt, worldly ways and wishes

Too smart to stop shortchanging our life and our time

But too fickle to get off the waiting line
